STUDENT ORIENTATION OF MASTER PROGRAM OF CIVIL ENGINEERING AT UMS – ODD SEMESTER 2024/2025

Master Program of Civil Engineering at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) held its  Student Orientation for the Odd Semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year on Saturday, August 31, 2024. The event took place at the Faculty of Engineering meeting room and was attended by all new students of the 2024 cohort.

The orientation program was officially opened by the Head of  Master Program of Civil Engineering, who warmly welcomed the new students and expressed hope that they would pursue their graduate studies with dedication and enthusiasm.

During the orientation, students received important information regarding several key academic components, including:

  1. Organizational Structure of the Program was presented, including the roles of the Head of Program, Secretary, core lecturers, and administrative staff. Students were introduced to the duties and responsibilities of each member in supporting academic and administrative activities.

  2. Academic System and Course Delivery
    Students were informed about the academic system, including class schedules, learning methods, grading system, and the use of e-learning platforms and the digital library. Emphasis was placed on the importance of attendance, active participation, and discipline in academic activities.

  3. Thesis Submission Procedures
    Comprehensive guidance on the thesis process was provided, covering topic proposal, selection of thesis supervisors, and the procedures for seminars and thesis defense. This information is intended to help students plan their academic journey in a structured and goal-oriented manner.

  4. Program Accreditation Status
    Students also received information about the current accreditation status of the program and the continuous efforts to maintain and improve educational quality. This segment aimed to ensure transparency and reinforce the program’s commitment to academic excellence.

The orientation concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing students to directly engage with program administrators. It is expected that this orientation will help new students understand the academic system and culture of the university, enabling them to begin their studies with confidence and clear direction.
